Nothing Is True Everything Is Permitted

Assassin's Creed - PlayStation 3

This was the first game I have played of assassins I've read all the books but when I have attempted to play previously I couldn't get the hang of the controls, so I got better and I felt it was time.
You play the game I Altair he was disgraced and has to earn back his weapons and his rank. The game introduces the basis of the controls and the creed very well. It is very simple and once you get the hang of it the controls really are not very difficult. You have socially acceptable controls such as walking but then you have running jumping sprinting as your second set. The combat system is impeccable I really enjoyed fighting you had to have good timing, you could do a stealth kill, throw knives or a takedown.

There are plenty of enemies to keep you entertained and because of the combat system you could take on 9-10 at once and still live to tell the tale.

This game takes place in several places. Masuaf, Acre, Damascus, Jerusalem and Asruf.
Masuaf is where the headquarters are with Al Mualim he is your masters who tasks you with killing 9 enemies of the creed. Now the one thing is game is lacking is diversity. The places are different definitely however, in everyone one you do the same things, the same beggars are there and you kill a target. There is no variant it doesn't matter how you kill your target the sequence is the same.

What this game would have benefited from is variety, they could have made some missions stealth or at least made the target mission different (which I am told they improve upon later in the franchise)
They don't give a huge amount of depth to Altair which again I hear this gets improved upon.

What concerns me is when this game came out before the 'oh well they improve' I'm not so sure I would get a second game without a guarantee it was going to be a least slightly different.

I enjoyed the places (bar Acre) and the game was good in the sense that it taught you how to play, the mechanics of the game which is good in a first game because I hadn't played any of them so I needed the hand holding. However, I did get bored and this is one thing I despise from a game or any other entertainment outlook. It should not be boring the game was just the same over and over again. There was no motivation to collect the flags as you didn't get anything for them.

Overall, I would give this game a 4/10 it was fine as a starter but I hope they get a lot better in the series.

It's Just Another Dinosaur

Jurassic World - Film

Now don't get me wrong I love the Jurassic park franchise and Jurassic world was no exception!

The dinosaurs looked unbelievably real especially their skin, especially at the end when you get treated to the sight of the T-Rex from previous movies which you can tell by the marks on the scales.

The actors/actresses were very good...  The kids weren't the worst I've seen in films
BUT despite how much I love the films I cannot get my head around the concept anymore after the first time this happened they bred dinosaurs and one went ape shit why would you continue to keep trying it's an absolutely ridiculous concept and in this one when they genetically modify one why?!? Why in Gods name would you genetically modify a killing machine!

Now looking past the concept this one was different than the others in that the park has been open for a few years now. Chris Pratt and his pack of raptors frankly they made my night! The fight at the end was absolutely epic and you actually got to see it this time.
BUT (a little rant) why do filmmakers see the need when something is cool is happening to show the humans running for their life if you're gonna make a film about dinosaurs show the freaking dinosaurs! (rant over)

I personally did not think this was Pratt's best performance but the film has a lot of enjoyable elements and there are some chuckle out loud moments.

This is definitely one of the better remakes I have seen in a long time but...  Change the story line!!!!

PS2 game for a PS3

Okami - Playstation 3

Well have you seen it? There is no way to describe the artwork that is this game. It is unique, it is beautiful. It is spectacular. The artwork in this game is something to admire, it makes the game its own and different.

The story of Okami is beautiful, interesting and full of life and colour. The story follows Okami Amaterasu as she learns her brush techniques back which she lost. The story is intricate and full of live, there are many different side stories that help build up the main story. It follows Okami as she learns her thirteen celestial brush techniques and defeating evil on their way.

Okami Amaterasu is the main character in the story with her faithful companion Issun the wandering artist. Despite Okami never actually speaking in the game she is a symbol of hope, loyalty and courage for the player. By the end of the game you feel like you are the mother of them all.
Issun, Okami faithful companion, is a wandering artist know as a Ponkle. He follows Okami as he wants to learn the brush techniques. Issun does all the talking for Okami interacting with other characters. Issun makes you laugh, makes you cry and makes you care. He has a thing for the ladies and is helpful during gameplay.

The gameplay is unique in Okami. The combat style is different with the brush techniques which provide a wide range from bombs, to power slash to water and fire. With all of these it makes combat fun and enjoyable, it made me want to go into the arenas not run away from them.
The map is extensive with caves, forests and islands to explore the techniques allow you to explore in high areas and secret caverns. The world is beautiful with the blossoming trees, the grass that grows as you run and the sea and rivers that are flowing throughout the world.

The music in the game is beautiful to listen to, each combat and fight comes with the music. Its simple nothing too complicated for the game. The little tunes that play when you complete a fight and kill enemies make you feel satisfied.

10/10

There is nothing wrong in this game. The gameplay is unique and fun, the story is long, varied and with plenty of side missions to keep you occupied. A PS2 game that has been redone for the better!

Thriller at it's Best

Triptych – Karin Slaughter

Triptych, now this new!
In 1985 a brutal rape and murder took place, John Shelley was the accused and was in prison for his last bit of childhood and the beginning of his adult life. Now he is out and remaining under the radar with his surprise visits from his parole officer. That is until he finds out someone is using his identity – for what? That’s what he needs to find out!

Gone are the characters from the Grant County series and say hello to our new characters for the Will Trent series!
Special Agent Will Trent, Trent is our loveable new character. He is severely dyslexic but he takes it in his stride. He has been chosen to be a part of Amanda Wagner (who you may remember from Indelible) new team. He offers his services to Atlanta police detective Michael Ormewood when faced with a string of rapes and now a murder. He is a sweet character who you can’t help but love.
Angie Polaski, Angie is a vie cop who seems to have her claws hooked in Will. They have known each other since being children in the orphanage and she offers up information regarding Will and his past. It’s safe to say that while you love Will, you hate Angie for what she does. She is a good cop and you do feel sorry for her considering her job but she doesn’t make it easy to like her.
John Shelley, John is our victim here; he was put in prison and a young age for the killing of Mary Alice a childhood friend. He has finally got out and wants nothing more than to live under the radar. He’s got himself and a job and an apartment (albeit crappy), he spots Robin a prostitute who becomes the apple of his eye. You cannot help but feel sorry for John; he is like the sweet, young, lost boy that you imagine being the nerd in the class. But John is far from giving up when he finds out someone is trying to ruin his life (again) You begin to relate to John while he goes through his old court cases and tries to proof his innocence.

Slaughter has stuck to what she knows but has changed it up just a little. Similar to Indelible the story flits between past and present. She involves different characters but does what she does best and brings them all together at the end.

Triptych is the first in the Will Trent series, and it introduces the series extremely well. You get to learn about Will and his past and read an interesting story along the way.

This book is a very readable read! Being the first in the series it can be difficult as things need to be explained but it can’t be boring. Slaughter introduces Will and Angie in this first book extremely well with a complex and interesting story to go alongside.
Verdict
My verdict for this book is better than good; it is a very strong start to the series with a good introduction to the characters and robust story to go alongside. The characters are likeable and a nice change from the Grant County series characters. The story was interesting with a lot of twists and turns. The best part of the book was the going back and forth between past and present, Slaughter knows her strengths and she plays to them.

7/10

A tough read indeed!

Kisscut – Karin Slaughter

Kisscut is the second in Slaughter’s Grant County series. It starts with chief of police Jeffrey Tolliver shooting a troubled teenager. Her death leads to a twisted plot that will turn even some of the stronger stomachs. The plot thickens even more when secondary characters come into play with an intricate tale to tell!

Sara Linton, is our beloved main character once again as she investigates the death of the teenager shot and how this leads to further issues and plot twists. She is a strong woman character that is highly independent. She has accepted Jeffrey’s advances to an extent and you see a more personal side of Sara.
Jeffrey Tolliver, Tolliver is the chief of police in Grant is struggling in this book as he is riddled with guilt. He desperately investigates what was wrong with the victim and how he could have helped or even saved her. He is intuitive and leads a strong investigation; he also has a strong personality to match.
Lena Adams, after the first book Lena struggles with her inner demons, after having lost her sister and becoming a victim she is seen to be tormented. Despite this, Slaughter still does not incur any sympathy for the character, she is hard-headed and strong that’s for sure but extremely unlikeable that despite what happened to her previously, no feelings are wasted on her. Her chapters are the dullest moments of the book. This is then made worse when she meets Mark a young, troubled boy, with Mark a strange, weird feeling is put on you while reading the sections with the interaction of these two characters, despite all the killing etc. it is these moments that make you feel uncomfortable.

Once again Slaughter writes a mean crime novel. She sticks to what she knows and embraces the brutality of the self-mutilation and abuse that occurs in the small town. Once more it is difficult to realise the bad guys until towards the end she throws in many twists and turn which make it difficult to pick up which makes you think about the story and the characters which is refreshing the crime genre.

Kisscut is the second in Slaughters Grant County series and leads on very well from the first. The relationship between Sara and Jeffrey develops from the first book and the story is extremely intricate compared with the first.

Slaughter does it again with her story and this book is worth the read just for that. If gore and hard times are what you are looking for this book should make your list.

My verdict for this book is average but definitely better than the first; the story is once again the best part of the book which I admit is the most important but for the book to be good the characters also need to be interesting which once again Lena Adams ruins. The story is more intricate and hard-hitting than the first with the involvement of the abuse so if you have a weak stomach this is not a book you want to read. Slaughter has progressed from the first book and I hope this progression continues as she is going in the right direction!

5/10

Permanent ...Indelible

Indelible – Karin Slaughter

Indelible, the forth and best one so far. Indelible explores a different story with past and present meet. The story goes back twelve years when Sara and Jeffrey are getting to know each other. Jeffrey takes Sara to his home town where nothing seems to go right. Their one night turns into a full blown murder with Jeffrey’s best friend being the murderer. The story goes back and forth between the past and the present when a hostage situation occurs in the police station.

This time we are taken back to a time when Sara and Jeffrey are just getting to know each other, they are still the main focus of the story but we are introduced to many new characters such as Nell, Possum and Richard all from Jeffrey’s past. You find out a lot more about Jeffrey from this book as we explore his past and how this is now affecting him twelve years down the line.
There are many strong characters in the book which are mostly secondary; the common characters are back such as Frank, Brad and Lena but as small roles when compared with the main story line.

In this book Slaughter has taken a different approach with going back and forth between past and present, and it is a welcome change. Her writing and story remain strong with it being clear that we will not know who the culprit is until she wants us to. She gives us an insight into the main dynamics of Jeffrey and his relationships which is also welcome as not much is known about him.

In a way Indelible takes a step back, it is the forth in the Grant County Series and yet it goes back to the past before the first book is set. Not much is made in the form of story progression as she explores how the past is affecting the present. Sara and Jeffrey get closer and an incident at the police station pushes them closer together. More knowledge is known about Jeffrey and his past which progresses his character in the story.

This book is definitely readable! The story is interesting, you learn more about the characters and unlike before ALL chapters are interesting to read. She brings in new characters and personalities which bring welcome change to the series.

My verdict for this book is even better! Slaughter has definitely progressed since the first book. Her writing style is different in this book than the previous three but in this case it is not a bad thing. She is evidently strong at intricate stories but tying them all together in a nice neat bow. With us finding out more about the characters and being able to go into the past and present brings a welcome relief and change to the series. It is interesting, strong and well-written; Slaughter has outdone herself with this one!
7/10

Karin Slaughter no no Karen Rose

Have you seen her? – Karen Rose

Have you seen her? Is the second book written by Karen Rose. The story follows a widower Special Agent Steven Thatcher as he investigates a serial murderer. As far as crime books go Karen Rose is among the top writers. The story involving the investigation is strong; interesting and surprisingly hard to guess who did it. There is also the backstory of Special Agent Thatcher and his son’s teacher Jenna Marshall, this gives the book some gossip to follow making it more light hearted to read. The story about the serial killer from the past re emerging is intriguing to the reader and the whole investigation is interesting to follow.

Special Agent Steven Thatcher is the main hero of the story. He is the lead investigator on a serial killer case which hits close to home. He has an interesting back story relating to his family with his three sons Nicky, Matt and Brad. He is an excellent investigator, the flaw in Steven thatcher’s story is how he acts. We as readers understand that after the history he had this could put some bumps in his road however, no-one wants to read about a guy making stupid mistakes.
Jenna Marshall, she is our heroine in the story. Dr Marshall is Thatcher’s eldest sons Brad, teacher. Similar to thatcher she has an interesting back story to read about alongside the turmoil she faces during the book. She helps ground Thatcher when he is in the middle of his investigation. She is a strong female character showing emotion but also strength. She is an admirable character that many females like myself can relate to.
There are strong secondary characters such as Thatcher’s aunt Helen who plays the matchmaker, Thatcher’s sons and even Dr Marshall dogs add to the story. With all of the secondary characters Rose creates a variety among the different back stories and how they relate back to his investigation.

As it stands there are no issues with Karen Rose’s in terms of grammar or competency.

The book is written as third person looking onto the investigation. The script is broken up by date and time which makes it easy to follow the events that are happening throughout the story. This is a common aspect in Rose’s books and one that breaks up the long chapters.

Karen Rose is one of the strongest crime writers out there. In no way is the book a romance suspense book, yes there is some romance involved but the main story is about a serial killer. The book is a strong example of a good crime investigation story; it keeps your interest and is well written.

7/10

This book is a strong story with strong characters and anyone who likes a good crime story should definitely buy!

Faith...Faithless

Faithless – Karin Slaughter

Faithless does exactly what it says on the tin. A farm is investigated after Sara and Jeffrey stumble upon a little girl. It is clear of the religious ties within the farm which are taken too far. After the autopsy is done a much more chilling point is added to the already controversial story. While investigating secrets are revealed and it is clear that people are not what they seem.

Sara and Jeffrey’s relationship is heating up and he is looking to move in, along with struggling with this and other personal details they now have to investigation a child who has clearly been murdered. Even though throughout the series these two characters are bumping heads this is starting to get old, the will they won’t they scenario, thankfully this is cleared up at the end of the book which is probably the best part.
Lena Adams, Lena is once again involved in the story she is now fully instated after the last book and she finds this case difficult which is understandable. After getting called back from vacation she becomes helpful to Jeffrey except she still has Ethan. Now Lena has been my least favourable character throughout the whole series and with Ethan being in the picture she is not any better. She pushes Hank away when this just seems stupid. Her character has built from the first book however, throughout this book I found that whenever she is in I am left thinking ‘What the hell are you doing!’
As they investigate the farm a range of characters come into play from Lev to Paul, each with very different personalities. This is refreshing for the book to have so many different personalities involved in the story.

After the change in the last book Slaughter has gone back to what she knows. The writing style is back to where she started and an interesting family dynamic in the farm is introduced.

Unlike Indelible, Faithless brings progression back into the story. It is now the fifth instalment in the Grant County Series and finally Jeffrey and Sara’s relationship seems to be going somewhere.

This book is lacking some of what the forth one had however; it is still readable for the series. You are welcomed with the fact that Sara and Jeffrey relationship is progressing – which if you ask me was getting old – and the story and crime side of the book is definitely and interesting read.

My verdict for this book is okay. It is better than average but not as good as the last instalment. The story is interesting and Slaughter leaves bread crumbs throughout the novel which point to the bad guy at the end. Sara and Jeffrey finally seem to be going somewhere, which is long anticipated and I was grateful for this as the to and froing between them was getting very old! The book is worth buying and reading for the fact of continuing the story but after the last book it is a slight let down.

4/10

Fear doesn’t shut you down; it wakes you up

Divergent - Veronica Roth

So how many times have we seen the story Divergent? Many times!
However, what makes Roth stand out are the factions. Her story is based in a world where everyone is split into five factions: Abnegation, Candour, Dauntless, Amity and Erudite. Each one favouring a different quality. It follows a teenage girl on her journey to find which faction she belongs to.
As this book includes the factions it makes it stand out from say The Hunger Games despite them being the same genre. The story is slow to begin and gets more action packed as the book progresses with underlying stories of romance and friendship entwined in the main story.

The main heroine in this book is Beatrice ‘Tris’ Prior, she has to choose which faction she wants to belong to for the rest of her life. Struggling with emotions of not fitting in with any of the factions she takes a leap of faith. She is a strong heroine who throughout the book progresses and becomes even stronger with the secondary characters such as her friends Christina and Will to help make her even stronger.
The male lead in this book is occupied by Four; he is the strong manly man that balances out Tris’s impulsiveness. He has a level head – most of the time- and becomes the voice of reason for Tris. Four is what any girl imagines a strong tough guy willing to stick up for them. As the book progresses so does Four’s character and you learn more about him in depth.
Despite there being some strong secondary characters there are also ones that even though they do contribute to the story (a little anyway) they are not really needed and leave weak links in the story these include Tris’s brother Caleb and her parents. They have a big impact on Tris but as characters they lack depth and intrigue.

Divergent is the first in a trilogy, it gives a strong starting base for the other books to build. Despite it not being as strong or as good as it could be it does lay groundwork for books to follow and hopefully get better.

If a fantasy world is what you enjoy then Divergent is a definite buy. It has a strong story (if not written as well as it could be) which means

6/10

There is no doubt that this book is unique, the story as a whole is different. The main characters are strong however, due to the writing the book still has more to offer.

Tick Tock Goes The Angel's Clock

Clockwork Angel - Cassandra Clare

London, 1878, Queen Victoria as queen and men were gentlemen. Tessa Gray travels from New York at her brother’s request but it’s not all it seems when she arrives in London. Her mundane world can no longer exist. If any of you have read any of Cassandra Clare no more explanation is needed. Clare develops a whole new world with vampires, werewolves, demons, warlocks and shadowhunters. And the first instalment of the infernal devices gives an insight into this world for our main character Tessa Gray. Along the way Tessa comes into contact with love, secrets and betrayal.

Tessa Gray is our heroine of the story, she comes to London not knowing anyone and naïve. Throughout the story Tessa becomes stronger and more relatable, she’s a stranger in a different land and the first thing she comes into contact with is betrayal and torture.
William Herondale, Will is the mismatch character in our story. He is a mystery to the readers and a mystery to his own characters. In the first of the trilogy there isn’t much revealed of Will, Cassandra keeps details regarding him quite close to the chest during this first book.
James Carstairs, Jem is the opposite of Will, where Will is risk taking, secretive and mysterious. Jem is the opposite, he is like an open book, you find out a lot about his character, who he is and where he came from within the first book, it is built upon throughout the book and further in the series. Jem becomes the older brother we all want.
There are many other shadowhunters in the story such as Jessamine, the one who doesn’t want to belong to the shadow world. Charlotte, the leader of the institute, Henry her bumbling husband and many other smaller characters. All of the characters go well with each other and contribute to the story. Cassandra knows how each character can attribute the story and each other.

This is the first book in the Infernal Devices series. It introduces all the characters and allows us to get to know each one before the story really begins.

If you enjoy fantasy Cassandra Clare’s Infernal Devices is a good place to start. It’s not the most intricate of stories there’s a simple story line, it is based in London so that brings some reality into the story. Unlike The Mortal Instruments, The Infernal Devices is a more feminine story with a strong love triangle.

My verdict for Clockwork Angel is a 8/10.

The book starts the trilogy off strong with some strong characters, strong story and strong writing. There are aspects that could be better such as the writing which can be weak in some places. This is a must read for anyone who enjoys fantasy.

"Don't read this alone. Don't read it after dark. But do read it”

Blindsighted – Karin Slaughter

Story
The story is set in the Georgia town of Grant, a popular resident gets murder in a diner bathroom and it’s up to the coroner Sara Linton and the police chief Jeffery Tolliver to find the killer. Slaughter brings the best of the murder investigation and the personal lives of the characters together in this book.
Characters
Sara Linton, Sara is both the coroner and paediatrician for Grant County. She is beloved by all in the county except one. Sara’s ex-husband Jeffery is the chief of police and still has his eyes on the Dr. Sara is strong and independent and tries her best to keep her distance from Jeffery however, she is the best coroner in the County and when someone is murdered and dies in her arms she gets to work finding the killer.
Jeffrey Tolliver, Tolliver is the chief of police in Grant and works closely with his ex-wife Sara Linton. He spends his free time trying to win back Sara’s heart and crushing it while they were married. Despite his personal failings he is a good police officer, he is not afraid to take down the criminals. As this is the first book in her Grant County series Tolliver’s character is well established and strong beginning.
Lena Adams, Lena is the victim in our story, she is the first female detective in Grant and her sister is the victim at the beginning of the story. As the book progresses it becomes clear that Lena is unlikeable to everyone except Jeffrey. She then becomes the victim of the story and you want to feel sorry for her but the way she is written makes you feel very little for the character.

Writing Style
The story is captivating and despite it being a crime novel it is difficult to pin-point the killer until very late in the book which is refreshing.
Series Progression
Blindsighted is the first in the Grant County series by Karin Slaughter. It is a strong start on the most part to the series and the characters are established with full force in this book.

Readability
The book is readable. The story is strong but the secondary characters lack interest and I found myself getting bored throughout some of the chapters.
Verdict
My verdict for this book is average, the story is well-written and thought out. The setting is appealing a small American town. The actual criminal side of the story is solid however, the characters in the book lack the ability to captivate your attention, especially when one becomes the victim and I did not feel anything for this character when you would think reading about someone being raped would be moving but not with her, nada! There were also chapters that I found dull and struggled through. Despite the failings the book is an average start to the series and I would expect more out of the future books.

4/10

The First of Many... A Fear so Cold

A Faint Cold Fear – Karin Slaughter
"Slaughter’s plotting is relentless, piling on surprises and twists” – Guardian
Story
A Faint Cold Fear is the third in Slaughters Grant County Series. The story is more close to home when a member of Sara’s family is attacked. Suicides beginning piling up and it seems that these are no longer coincidences making Jeffery and Sara’s job a lot harder. A recurring character plays an interesting role this time and gets into trouble… which is definitely her own fault!
Characters
Sara Linton, Sara’s job as coroner becomes harder in this book she has suicides and someone close to her that she needs to look out for. Her attention is strained between immediate problems and possible problems. She is clearly struggling but remains strong for her family despite everything that is happening.
Jeffrey Tolliver, his relationship with Sara is getting stronger until this major hiccup. Because of Jeffrey knows this case is more important than any, when one of his own becomes a problem and is possibly in trouble all he can do is try. His character shines brighter in this book than he has previously.
Lena Adams, despite being kicked off the force (yes we all thought she was gone but no!) Lena becomes a pain for Jeffrey and his investigation; this is then made worse by the appearance of a new character, Ethan. Throughout the book it is unclear what role she has to play in the plot which is good it keeps some mystery meaning her chapters are probably more interesting in this book than they have been in the entire previous two books.
Ethan White/Green, Ethan is the new boy on the block. He becomes a hindrance for Jeffrey and his investigation and he seems to be attached to Lena. As we all know Lena is not a lovable character and Ethan is not a man that is to be messed with. Lena learns new things about herself and Ethan adds intrigue and some danger into the story.
Writing Style
This time Slaughter adds in a few new characters and focuses on a story line that is a bit more close to home. With suicides and an attack on the story she manages to pull together the lose strings at the end of the book.

Series Progression
A Faint Cold Fear is the third in Slaughters Grant County series and leads on extremely well from the second book. As the personal relationships begin developing further the story gets more intricate and interesting.
Readability
Again Slaughter brings out an interesting read, her story remains a mystery and this time someone we know gets hurt (and you feel it this time). It is readable and once you get into the story it is difficult to put the sucker down!
Verdict
My verdict for this book is better. Her last two books had some major faults and to be honest bits were boring however, this time she uses the story to keep nearly all chapters interesting.  A new character is bought in which brings in some danger to the read. Her character lists still lets her down slightly but the series is progressing and the story is much more heart felt than previous reads of hers. Despite these strong points the score remains the same as the second book, she has progressed from the first in her series but this book does not justify a higher score.

5/10

One Way to Re-Write History

11.22.63
Story
The story written by Stephen King is intricate, interesting and original. No other book could match the research and facts that were put into this book. It is obvious how much work was put into this story. That being said, at a whopping 726 pages, this story is dragged out. The story itself is amazing and addicting read but it is too long. The main character Jake Epping/George Amberson spends too much time and too long before the main story begins describing what he is going to do and describing the situation. However, the ending finishes abruptly, considering the whole book builds up to one moment in history this one moment lasts all of two pages. After the lengthy beginning the ending was a disappointment. The plot points in the story were well placed, and kept the story flowing through the book keeping intrigue throughout.
The book travels through Derry, Jodie and Dallas. All of these set a stage for the adventure that unravels in Jakes life.
Characters
The main character is Jake Epping/George Amberson the story revolves around his trip leading up to a historical moment. He is interesting to read about and follow through his adventure. There is no main flaw with him as a main character.
Sadie Dunhill, Sadie is the love interest of Jake while he is in the past. She is a loveable character from the reader’s point of view. She is a strong character that follows the main character to the end. Once again there are no flaws with Sadie as a character in the main story.
The book is filled with a lot of funny, interesting and sometimes scary secondary characters such as Deke, Al and let’s not forget the Yellow Card Man. Each of the secondary characters adds to the story and they are all interesting to hear from.

Grammar
Stephen King is a sophisticated, experienced and talented writer. There are no issues with this book in terms of the writing and progression of the story.
Writing Style
Stephen King has written this book in first person, similar to his other books such as Under the Dome he also addresses the audience directly. This is different from many other books and makes Stephen King’s writing stand out.
Readability
This book is VERY readable. It is a no miss story with the intricacy of the story and the spin he puts on this historical event is one that cannot be missed. The story is long however, if you don’t mind reading the length this book is one that any book lover should NOT miss. It does have a flaw in the progression of the storyline being that it is not balanced, too much time is spent on some areas but the main story of the book is a no miss.
Verdict
8/10
The book is amazing, the story is unique however, due to the progression (sometimes slow) it does let the book down ever so slightly.

It is a must buy for any fantasy/history lover.

Grey...A Story Of The Same

Grey... Fifty Shades written from Christian's perspective.

Now don't get me wrong I was not expecting a huge amount from this book. I enjoyed the series based purely on the fact that it is a story of not so ordinary romance. I do not agree with those who view this series as domestic violence or anything like this. In fact in truth I don't see where that comes from. No matter what pain is caused to Ana physically it is consensual and I am fully aware that these relationships are real. It is a real lifestyle for some people.

Grey is the same story of the first book but told from his point of view. You get to know the thought process of Christian which can be harsh at times. This is one is much better written than the previous three and you get to see into the depths of depravity that is Christian Grey. His thought processes are much darker than Ana's and you learn more about his childhood than you found out in previous trilogy. I will admit this book is much darker than previous but much to the contrary of other reviewers it is the same story. The best part about doing the same book but from another perspective is that you can see things such as when Ana goes to Georgia and when they are not together. This is the only reason why these books are worthwhile, the story remains unchanged as it should but you get to know Christian better as a character.

Christian is a complex character that is not done justice with E.L James' writing. She talks of the greats Austen and Hardy in her books but hers do not hold a torch to that of their writing. Christian could be better developed if anothers hands.

No matter how she writes this book would have been the same as the first book which is not necessarily a bad thing but it does not make for an interesting read. I am pleased that I did not pay full price for this book, I would have been sorely disappointed at full price.

When this was announced I was half expecting a rip off just so she can make a bit more money from this cash cow and I was half right. I can't completely dismiss this book as I did enjoy it despite already having read the story several times I enjoyed the read. It was .... well intriguing. As I am not an expert on this lifestyle I can't comment on how reliable his thought processes actually are, are they what goes through the mind of a dom? Let's just say I hope she did her homework.

There are things wrong with this book I have read better but I enjoy the story it is not an ordinary romance and despite there being a happy ending it comes about differently. I will admit it is a far-fetched story I mean a billionaire deflowers an innocent virgin? highly doubtful. I wish the books could be written better I think this fiction could be much better from a different writer.

For the price this book was enjoyable I would read it again. Therefore, this book was not a total flop. Simply could have been better.
