You Give Me Fever...

As you can tell from a previous post I went to see Cinderella yesterday. Before Cinderella was shown the short film Frozen Fever was shown and as it's Frozen I thought it should get a shout out.

Frozen Fever is a short sequel to Frozen. It's a short film based around Anna birthday when Elsa wants to make her day special. All of the original voice actors come back for the short-film and an original song has been penned for it's purpose.

The best thing about the short-film is that all of the voice actors came back, in so many franchises they do spin-offs and you're lucky to get one or two of the original voices in it.

It sticks to what they know best and has the comedy bought in by Olaf and Kristoff along with some new mini faces that join them for Anna's birthday.

When it was first announced I felt that a short-film would seem cheap but no all this does is tie up the loose ends. Hans makes a short appearance and it truly shows that everyone lived happily ever after.

In all of the short-films that I have seen this was by far one of the better ones, the song was good, not as good as 'Let It Go' but good enough to make you want to watch it again. Animation was the same as the film, superb.

Now I do understand that maybe this Frozen franchise has effectively taken over parents and childrens lives but this short-film does not seem like it is just trying to drag it out (even if it is) it feels like they have put actual effort into the film and its a good way to whet your appetite before sitting down to watch Cinderella.

As this is a short-film I'm not going to give it a rating however, if you get the chance to watch the short-film it is worth watching for any Disney lover or if you're like me someone who grew up with Disney and can feel satisfied with a new film.

So Reviews....

We thought about setting up a website a long time ago so there are some reviews which have been sitting around for a while mostly book reviews ... crime books mainly so these will be going up over the next few days and more and more hopefully will appear :)

A fairy tale like...Well the same as others

Cinderella was without a doubt a fairy tale...  Now I know that seems like a stupid statement but it was nothing more than that. Lily James and Richard Madden work extremely well together they make you believe in a happy ever after. However that is all there was. Nothing more or new it was just...  Fine. The cinematography was something to behold the house and the castle was...  Well something out of a fairy tale it was exquisite and dreamlike. The costumes...  Well what to say about them they were magical, fitting and like nothing you have ever seen before. Probably not the most comfy but to look at they were every girls (even mine!) dream. The real highlight for me was Cate Blanchetts portrayal of the Evil Stepmother. She was menacing and yet you could see a softer side to her one that actually made you feel a little bad for her (a little). In the beginning when the trailer was released I wasn't so sure on Lily James but she suits the role perfectly. She holds her own in some places and both her and Richard Madden may not be everyone's cup of tea in the conventional sense...  but we're all about the unconventional! There were no songs in this film and that actually made it better I like musicals don't get me wrong but this film didn't need it, you could tell when they wanted to break out in song but I'm glad they didn't to me that would have made the film seem cheap. Helen boham Carter makes a beautiful Godmother she really suits blonde! She is a long way from Bella Trix I can tell you that! I can genuinely say that there were parts of this film that made me laugh out loud my favourite quote being "I cannot drive I am a goose" this added some lightheartedness to the film when everything was down for Cinderella.

The ending was something I feel I should mention once the prince finds her she gives her name as Cinderella (the nickname given to her by her step sisters) and this made me proud. She has accepted her identity and she is not ashamed she got there because she followed her mother's words"have courage and be kind" and to her that was enough. This made me happy to see a good role model for little girls out there.

All in all the cast was strong and the costume design and cinematography were something to behold but at the end of the day it is just a fairy tale one that has been told several times.

I would recommend this film for a rainy day when you want to watch something that you don't have to think about. It is sweet, naive and innocent all that you can expect from a real-life fairy tale. I enjoyed the film and I think if you like the fairy tale idea you would enjoy it to.

7/10 - this score is mostly put up for the costume designs and acting. There are not necessarily bad sides but really all I can say about it is that it is fine.

S M R T I mean S M A R T

So... Currently in my household we have a PS2, PS3 and a PS4 all lined up in a row. Ah what sweet memories lie on the PS2 specifically Simpson Hit and Run. Since first playing the game there has always been something to draw me back. The game is not some new high tech game with amazing graphics but it has lasted through many years. The content of the game is fun, not particularly story driven in any manner or form but it's fun to play. And what else can you ask from a game made in 2003! (man that makes me feel old!) I am going through the game now but have to redo some because auto save does not exist on this game but you know what normally that would annoy me but with this game I am more than happy to replay sections. Games have definitely come a long way since SH&R but it will always be a classic game I'm my eye and that in itself is priceless!

Will keep updated when finished :)
